A commercial espresso machine is not a plug-in appliance. It is plumbed into water, wired to its own power and drained to waste, so a little prep before install day saves you a second trades visit and a delayed opening. Here is exactly what your site needs before a Bezzera machine goes in, whether it is a 2 group or a 3 group.
Who you need on site
Four trades touch a machine install: a plumber for the water and waste, an electrician for the power, a shopfitter or builder for the benchwork, and a registered Bezzera Australia coffee technician to commission the machine. The technician install is also a condition of your warranty, so it is not the step to skip.
2 group machine
Have these ready within 1000mm of where the machine will sit:
- Power: a 20A 3-pin outlet.
- Water: a cold water tap at 3 to 7 bar mains pressure, fitted with a 350kPa pressure limiting valve and a 10mm male connection.
- Waste: a 50mm or larger S-trap waste point under the machine.
- Bench: a 50mm or larger hole cut in the bench, directly under the machine position.
3 group machine
Same water, waste and bench as the 2 group, plus more power:
- Power: a 32A 3-pin outlet within 1000mm, or a 32A hardwired supply within 1000mm.
Your electrician sets the connection to suit, single phase or three phase, depending on the machine. If you are not sure which yours is, ask before install day rather than on it.
Keep it running, keep it covered
Once it is in, two things protect both your coffee and your warranty: a regular service by a qualified coffee technician, and water filter changes to suit your water quality and how hard the machine works. A busy venue pulls more shots and needs more frequent attention. Stay on the schedule and the warranty stays valid.
Register your machine within 30 days of purchase to unlock the extended parts and boiler cover. Book your install and your ongoing services through a registered Bezzera Australia coffee technician at bzau.com.au.

Common questions
Can I install a commercial coffee machine myself?
No. These machines are plumbed to mains water, run on their own dedicated power and drain to a waste point, so they are commissioned by a registered Bezzera Australia coffee technician. Professional installation is also a condition of the warranty.
What power does a commercial machine need?
A 2 group machine needs a 20A outlet. A 3 group needs a 32A supply, either a 32A outlet or hardwired, single or three phase. Have your electrician confirm the supply before install day.
Does it need plumbing?
Yes. You need a cold water tap at 3 to 7 bar with a 350kPa pressure limiting valve, and a 50mm or larger waste point under the machine, both within 1000mm of where it sits.
