About Colombia Manizales Coffee
A washed Excelso from the heart of Colombia's coffee axis. Caramel and toffee sweetness, dark cherry fruit and a smooth citric finish.
Colombia Manizales is a washed single origin from Caldas, grown in the shadow of the Nevado del Ruiz volcano in the northern Eje Cafetero, Colombia's famous coffee axis. Coffee arrived here in the 1800s and never left: more than 100,000 families in the Manizales region farm it today. This lot comes through the Cooperativa de Caficultores de Manizales, founded in 1960 and now more than 3,700 members strong, most of them small producers across eastern and central Caldas. The co-op runs 15 purchasing points across nine municipalities so farmers can deliver close to home, and its social programs go well beyond coffee: education, health insurance, veterinary assistance, and support for families when a member passes away. The volcanic soil does the rest. Roasted weekly at our Hurstville roastery in Sydney.
Flavour notes
- Caramel and toffee sweetness through the body, smooth and rounded
- Dark cherry fruit in the middle
- Clean citric brightness on the finish
Best for
A classic Colombian all-rounder. As espresso the caramel-toffee core makes a sweet, smooth shot that's built for flat whites and lattes. Filter brewing draws out the dark cherry and citric lift. If you want one coffee that keeps everyone in the house happy, black drinkers and milk drinkers alike, this is it.
