About Papua New Guinea Sigri Plantation Coffee
A washed estate coffee from PNG's famous Sigri Plantation. Dark chocolate, stone fruit and a rich, sweet body with a gentle winey finish.
Papua New Guinea Sigri is a washed single origin from the Sigri Plantation in the Waghi Valley of PNG's Western Highlands. Coffee has only been grown commercially in PNG since the 1950s, and Sigri was one of the first farms to do it properly. Today the estate covers 122 hectares and is internationally recognised as one of the finest coffee producers in the world. It is also more than a farm: the estate runs strict fauna protection rules that make it a sanctuary for endangered species, maintains roads and bridges for the surrounding community, supports schools, churches and medical facilities, and employs a Community Relations Officer working on projects that promote gender equality. Roasted weekly at our Hurstville roastery in Sydney. Estate coffee the way it should be done.
Flavour notes
- Dark chocolate through the body, rich and rounded
- Stone fruit sweetness in the middle, plum and apricot
- Gentle winey finish, smooth and lingering
Best for
Drinkers who want depth without losing sweetness. Excellent as espresso, where the chocolate and body make a rich, rounded shot that stands up beautifully in flat whites and lattes. Filter brewing opens up the stone fruit and the winey finish. A strong all-rounder and a great introduction to Pacific coffees.
