Over the next few years if you’re not already doing it, now is a really good time to look at automation and technology that’ll help your business in the long run and save you money.
Automate repetitive processes, if you’re still using a manual grinder (you know the one with the lever that goes click click click) automatic grinders of the way to go. They have been around for years, and will drastically improve your coffee consistency, usage and wastage. Do you manual tamper? Tamping robots are also in, and improve tamp consistency like you wouldn’t believe. Milk steamers and contactless card systems are just a few more examples.
- Mobile ordering app, Consider adding a mobile ordering options. I won’t name them all, but there are plenty in the marketplace. The key here is to pick one or two ordering apps to work with – registering your business on numerous ordering platforms can be overwhelming to start. Yes, you’re right, there is a cost as well as a percentage of the sale (in most cases). The question to ask yourself is 'what revenue opportunity am I missing out on by not utilising these ordering apps?'.
